Being a photographer will take you places all around your city and for some people around the world. I am a photographer in Fort Worth, TX and wanted to share some great photography spots in the area better known to some as Cowtown.
I know it’s taboo for a photographer to disclose their shooting locations however, I think it helps to let people know where you take pictures so they can appreciate the value of your photography more. When people are visiting a city where you photograph and see a location from one of your sessions they will understand that it takes more than having a “good” camera to make a photograph special. Photography is art. An image is a photographers interpretation of whats going on at that moment.
There is always going to be a few locations around town that clients gravitate to. Even if you have photographed there a hundred times when that location is what the client wants then that is where we are going to do the session. It is my job to make that session different than the previous ones I’ve done there.
Clients will call, mention that they saw some of my photographs, really like the location and ask if we can do their session in the same area. Of course, I say that we most certainly can and schedule the date and time to make it happen. I understand they want the same location but they also want me to make it their own. This is where a photographers artistic side takes over.
Here are some “spots” around town that have been the most requested by my clients:
Downtown Water Gardens
The Botanical Gardens
The Stock Yards
Trinity Park
Van Zandt Cottage
Heritage Park
Any place in the city that has graffiti or mural wall art.
Last but not least train cars which are everywhere in town.
This is a short list of some popular locations for photography sessions. We will continue with this series in a future blog. Sometimes a city may feel small until you get out there and explore only then do you realize just how big it really is.
